Scandiwork Slippers Class. December 2nd and 9th

Scandiwork at Handwork January 28- and February 4
Welcome to my Scandiwork slipper class. I love teaching this class because it is colorwork in a nutshell.
You will learn and master all the skills you need to conquer any colorwork project. In this class, you will
complete at least one slipper. You have the option of knitting Dagmar or any Scandiwork Slipper. You will
learn how to knit and purl in colorwork. The first portion of the slipper is worked flat, and the top of the
slipper is knit in the round.
Skill level: Intermediate. If you can knit and purl you can take this class, and these slippers will make a
lovely Valentine gift for you or a loved one.

Materials: 2 skeins (1 of each color) of Rauma Strikkegarn, Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, Biches et Buches
Lambwool or equivalent DK (light worsted yarn). And a set of DPNs or Flexiflips for the size of slippers
you are making.
The gauge for these slippers is 24 stitches over 4 inches knit in colorwork.
I used a US 4 to get gauge. The size of the slipper is determined by the size of needle you use. To make
a medium women’s slipper (US shoe size 6-9) you will need to use whatever size DPN or Flexiflips you
need to get gauge. If you want to make larger women’s slipper ( US shoe size 9.5-12) , you will use one
needle size larger (I would use US 5) and if you want to make a smaller slipper (US 4-5.5) use one size
smaller (US 3).
Homework: Please swatch in colorwork to determine needle size needed for class. If you are new to
colorwork, get gauge with a single color and bump up one needle size for colorwork.
In this class we will cover:
