Summer Homework 2026 Fitness Edition- May 25th - Sept 1st
Remember summer homework?
This is kind of like that… except instead of panic-reading books at 2 AM, you’ll be panic-learning brioche in August.
Welcome to the Knitting Hive Summer Homework: Fiber Fitness Edition 💪🧶
This summer, we’re turning knitting and crochet into the world’s slowest workout program. No gym membership required. No actual pull-ups required. Just yarn, determination, and maybe a little emotional support.
☀️ How It Works:
Pick up your Summer Homework card at The Knitting Hive starting May 25th.
Complete all 4 fitness challenges below by September 1st and bring your completed card back to the store.
🎁 Everyone who completes the homework will be entered to win prizes!
🏅 Participants will also receive fun surprises and an invite to our end-of-summer celebration party.
No speed required. No perfection required. Just movement, creativity, and trying new things.
🏋️ Your Fiber Fitness Challenges:
💪 Pull-Ups — Face Your Fears
We can all agree: pull-ups are the worst.
For this challenge, crochet or knit something that scares you a little:
brioche, steeking, lacework, cables, colorwork… the technique you keep avoiding.
This category is all about building confidence by finally trying the thing that intimidates you most.
🧘 Sit-Ups — Strengthen Your Core
Build those foundational skills!
Learn a few new techniques to strengthen your fiber toolkit:
try a new cast-on, learn jogless stripes, pick up stitches, master a stretchy bind-off, or finally figure out that technique you always skip in patterns.
Small skills make strong makers.
🤸 Touch Your Toes — Reach a Little Further
Go the extra inch.
Step outside your comfort zone and grow your community by volunteering, donating, teaching a friend, joining a stitch circle, or helping another maker.
Fiber arts are better together.
🏃 The Mile — Endurance Training
Your challenge:
Knit or crochet 1,760 yards by September 1st.
No need to rush. This is a slow marathon, not a sprint.
A few rows here, a granny square there… it all counts.
